KidLearn

For parents

A guide for parents

How to set KidLearn up for your family and keep an eye on how it is going, in about five minutes of reading.

01

Getting started

You sign in with your Google account, so there is no separate password to remember. The first time, KidLearn asks for your permission before anything about your child is stored.

  1. Choose Parent sign-in on the homepage, then Continue with Google.
  2. Read what we keep and what we never do, then tick the box to confirm you are the child's parent or guardian.
  3. Add your first child. When you are done, you land on your profiles page.

We keep each child's first name, age, grade and avatar (no surname, no photo), their lesson progress, and your Google name and email. There are no ads, we never sell data, and there is no chat and nothing to buy. If that wording ever changes, we ask you again.

02

Adding a child

Each child has a profile with a first name, an age from three to six, a grade, a language and an avatar from a starter set. You can change any of these later under Children.

You can add up to five children. To remove a child, you type their first name to confirm. Removing a child deletes all of their progress, rewards, screen-time settings and reports.

03

Reaching the parent area from your child's screen

On your child's screens, a small button in the top corner leads to the parent area. On the screen where your child picks their profile, it shows your Google photo and name; everywhere else it is a plain lock. It is hidden during lessons and stories, so a child in the middle of one cannot tap out by accident.

There is no PIN: your Google sign-in is the lock. If your child uses a device you are signed in on, they can reach this area, so the actions that cannot be undone ask you to confirm first.

04

The dashboard

Progress shows one child at a time; switch between children with the tabs. You see their learning time today, this week and this month; their progress in each subject, with the subject they are strongest in and the one that needs practice; and their 20 most recent lessons, stories and badges.

05

Weekly reports

For every week from Monday to Sunday, each child gets a report under Weekly report. It shows the days they were active, the minutes they spent learning, the new letters, words and numbers they met, the lessons and stories they finished, how often they answered quiz questions right first time, and the badges they earned. Earlier weeks are listed below the latest one.

Reports are shown in the app. They are not sent by email.

06

Screen-time limits

Open a child under Children and choose screen time. You can set a daily limit of 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or turn it off. You can also set the hours the app is open, for example from 4pm until 7pm.

Limits are checked when a lesson or story starts, so your child is never cut off halfway through one. When time is up, they see a gentle goodbye for the day, not a warning.

07

Language

KidLearn works in English and Bangla. To switch the language of your own screens, use the button at the top of the parent area. Your choice is remembered on that device.

Each child also has their own language, set on their profile. On the child's screens, the child's language wins, so one child can learn in Bangla while a brother or sister learns in English on the same tablet.

08

Deleting your account and data

Deleting your account erases everything: every child, all their progress and reports, your parent record and your sign-in. It happens in one step on our server, with no grace period and no copy kept, and it cannot be undone.

To make sure it is really you, it takes two steps: a request, then a confirmation within 15 minutes. The page for this is not in the web app yet. Until it is, you can delete each child under Children, which removes all of that child's data straight away.
